During 1940 and 1950 decades, many farmers migrated from High Mountain to Jungle eyebrow, located between western and eastern Andes mountain range in the Peruvian north east to grow coffee as a way to improve their life condition.
This activity was developed in small farms located on moderately fertile soil located on pronounced slopes. These farmer families have lived from coffee production for years. Second and third generations of these pioneering families found the form to export the coffee produced locally through small export companies.
Comercio & Cia., an example of these companies, has been very successful in Peruvian coffee trade in the United States and Europe. The company had an important growth from its beginnings in 1994 and at the moment it has a significant participation in Peruvian coffee market export. Being part of the production system in its influence zone, Comercio & Cia, stated the yields reduction in its own parcels and local producers parcel. The effect of this situation in the community became visible to such point that was considered a serious threat for the survival of all those surrounded in the coffee production of the zone.
